Pourover Design |
The Bunn BX Classic Brewer features the exceptional Bunn pourover system so the water held in its tank is always at the ideal brewing temperature of approximately 200oF. There is some set up involved before you brew your first pot of coffee, which only involves filling the machine with cold water and waiting 15 minutes for the water in the tank to heat. Once this process is completed, every subsequent brewing cycle takes just 3 minutes. All you have to do is pour from 20 to 50 oz of water into the machine, close the lid at the top, and this signals the flow of heated water through the coffee grounds. The BX Classic is meant to stay plugged in and turned on at all times, however when this coffee maker is going to sit idle for 3 days or more there is a vacation switch that should be turned off to shut off the machine’s electrical components. |
Showerhead Water Dispersion |
The uniquely designed showerhead on the Bunn BX Classic is built for efficiency. It allows the water to be equally dispersed throughout the coffee grounds so that you get an even extraction and the best tasting coffee. Be aware that using finely ground coffee and/or soft water may slow down the water flow through the coffee filter, so you may have to adjust the amount of coffee or water that you use. |
Stainless Steel Boiler |
The Bunn BX’s stainless steel boiler uses a powerful 800-watt heater, so it will only take 15 minutes to warm up the water in the tank when you first set up this machine. The boiler’s internal thermostat ensures that hot water is always available so that you can brew a full pot of coffee in just 3 minutes. |
Glass Carafe with Water Level Indicators |
The 10-cup (50 oz) glass carafe that comes with the Bunn BX Classic Brewer has an easy-grip handle and clearly marked water level markings. Its close-and-brew lid cuts down on the amount of evaporation that occurs as coffee stands, and helps the coffee retain its heat for a longer period of time. |
Water Reservoir |
The lid on the Bunn BX reservoir controls the flow of water into the boiler, so after pouring water into the top of this coffee maker you must close the cover to activate the brewing cycle. Water will then flow into the boiler and force the already heated water through the filter holder. |
Deliming Spring |
A descaling tool is included with the Bunn BX Classic Brewer that should be used on a regular basis to remove limescale build-up in the sprayhead tube. Insert the spring into the sprayhead tube and then slide this tool in and out 5 or 6 times to loosen the mineral deposits that may have accumulated. Complete instructions on this cleaning procedure are included in the user’s manual. |
Warming Plate |
The Bunn BX’s porcelain warming plate is a feature that will keep your coffee hot and fresh for 20 to 30 minutes. To retain the coffee’s temperature for a longer period of time, it is suggested that you pour your coffee into a thermal carafe. The warming plate is independently powered, and is controlled by an “On/Off” button on the front of the coffee maker. |
