Cuisinart engineers came up with a new combination of existing capabilities from various other designs to make the DCC-3000 Coffee on Demand™ carafe-free coffeemaker. They took the best of a thermal carafe machine eliminating the hot plate but hiding the insulated brewed coffee container in the machine, then added a user interface like an instant single-serve machine so you just put one cup under the spout and serve, and finally married these with a programmable drip coffee brewer and a 60oz fresh water reservoir. Quite unique!
There are 2 reservoirs in the machine; the clear 60oz fresh water tank has easy to read markings on the side to let you know how much fresh water is available for brewing. It is removable for filling and has a charcoal filter so you can use tap water for brewing. Then there is a double-walled insulated brewed coffee tank that holds the hot brew ready to serve. Cuisinart incorporated a Coffee Gauge™ on the front of the machine that looks like an automotive fuel gauge so you know how much brewed coffee is in the tank.
The programmable controls are intuitive and easy to operate. There is a dial to select different modes, program, auto-on, clock, brew, and auto off. And buttons for setting hour and minute, clean cycle, 1-4 cups small batch brewing, and power on/off. You can set the DCC-3000 to come on anytime in a 24 hour cycle.
The brewed coffee reservoir, fresh water reservoir, gold tone filter basket, and the drip tray are all removable for easy cleaning.
