The Carezza lives up to Gaggia's excellent reputation, and provides many features not normally found in its price range for espresso machines, including quality chrome and brass components, commercial size portafilter, ample heating and pump power, and a unique style and look that will fit in almost any kitchen décor. Starting with the brew group and portafilter - at this price, you would expect to see aluminum, lots of plastic, and lots of flimsiness. Not so with the Carezza. The brew group is cast marine brass coated with chrome, just like the "big boys". The portafilter is also made of chrome-plated brass (with a strong plastic handle) for better temperature stability, and it features a commercial-standard 58mm filter basket, allowing for full strength espresso shots by allowing better water dispersion over the coffee grounds. A solid feel and heavy weight in the portafilter add to the value of this machine. Next up the boiler - the Carezza features a boiler system almost identical to machines costing as much as $300 more in Gaggia's lineup - a 3.5 ounce, aluminum high-watt boiler provides for quick heat up times, and equally quick recovery times between shots.
