The Carezza lives up to Gaggia's excellent reputation, and provides many features not normally found in its price range for espresso machines, including quality chrome and brass components, commercial size portafilter, ample heating and pump power, and a unique style and look that will fit in almost any kitchen décor.

Starting with the brew group and portafilter - at this price, you would expect to see aluminum, lots of plastic, and lots of flimsiness. Not so with the Carezza. The brew group is cast marine brass coated with chrome, just like the "big boys". The portafilter is also made of chrome-plated brass (with a strong plastic handle) for better temperature stability, and it features a commercial-standard 58mm filter basket, allowing for full strength espresso shots by allowing better water dispersion over the coffee grounds. A solid feel and heavy weight in the portafilter add to the value of this machine.

Next up the boiler - the Carezza features a boiler system almost identical to machines costing as much as $300 more in Gaggia's lineup - a 3.5 ounce, aluminum high-watt boiler provides for quick heat up times, and equally quick recovery times between shots.

The Carezza features large rocker-type switches. The first switch located on top turns the machine on or off. Push the steam switch in the middle to heat the boiler to steam temperature. Push the coffee brew switch located at the bottom to begin the brewing cycle and then turn the switch off when the desired amount of espresso has been dispensed. Located below the switches are the power light and the temperature-ready light. The temperature light will illuminate when the boiler is at the proper temperature for either brewing espresso or steam production.
The Carezza produces ample dry steam for frothing milk and the patented Gaggia “Turbo Milk Frothing Tip” makes frothing milk a snap. The frothing tip is actually a sleeve that slips onto the end of the steam wand. It has an air induction hole that draws air into the sleeve while frothing milk. The air is injected into the milk to help produce foam quickly and easily. You may also remove the sleeve if you wish to heat the milk without producing as much foam. The steam wand is made of stainless steel and swivels to accommodate a 20 oz milk-frothing pitcher. To release steam from the machine, simply turn the steam control knob on top of the machine.
The machine features one of the heaviest portafilters in its class. Made of heavy marine grade brass, and covered with a chrome platting, it helps maintain thermal stability in your drink preparation, which gives you the best espresso possible. The Gaggias use commercial-standard 58mm filter baskets made of stainless steel.
The 44 oz water reservoir is removable for cleaning and is made of shatter resistant ABS plastic, and you may also fill it from the top of the machine, even during operation. The water volume is easily seen from almost any angle.
The drip tray and cup tray are made of durable plastic and remove for easy cleaning.
The machine delivers instant hot water just by turning the steam knob during normal standby (brewing) mode and activating the brew switch. Hot water will be dispensed from the steam wand. Use hot water to make tea, Americanos, hot chocolate, or other hot beverages.
The 16 BAR, self-priming, vibratory pump will provide more than enough pressure to make excellent espresso topped with thick crema.
The machine features a high performance 1370-watt boiler that holds 3.5 ounces of water. While a small amount, the high performance of the boiler system allows for extremely fast heat up and recovery times by the machine.
The boiler heating element features a thermal fuse that provides burnout protection if the boiler is operated dry or runs out of water.
The Carezza comes complete with two stainless steel filter baskets for making either single or double shots of espresso, a coffee tamper, 7 gram measuring spoon, instruction manual, and interactive CD ROM user guide.
