A 24-character LCD display combined with click-wheel programming functions unites tradition and innovation on this Gaggia Platinum super automatic espresso machine. The Gaggia Platinum Swing Up offers convenience and luxury, featuring a stainless steel boiler with Rapid Steam function, an active cup warmer, a Pannarello frothing wand, and the exclusive Gaggia Plus system, which allows you to vary the intensity of your brew with the turn of a knob. Works great with the Gaggia Milk Island (optional) automatic milk frother. There are other customizations as well – but what matters most is that each espresso, coffee, or long coffee tastes exactly how you want it to, brewed to perfection inside the stainless steel housing of a top-notch Italian made espresso machine.

Digital Display - The digital display controls programming options and is located above the click wheel. Press the button labeled “M” to enter into the programming menu, where you can control the language, water hardness, acoustic alarms, filter alerts, rinsing, cup-warming surface, clock settings, descaling, water filter adjustments, wash the brew group, enter into standby mode, or return all functions to their factory settings.

Brewing Espresso - You can brew a single or double shot of espresso, coffee, or long coffee just by pressing the large coffee button in the center of the click wheel. Press once for a single, or twice for a double. Your drink is dispensed out of the beverage dispensing spout in the front of the machine.

Lift Tray - Your cups rest on the drip tray, which can be raised or lowered automatically from 3” to 4.5” to fit different size cups. On the top right corner of the control panel are 2 arrows and a coffee cup icon. Press the up arrow to raise the tray, and the down arrow to lower it.

Stainless Steel Active Cup Warmer - Espresso tastes its best when it is brewed into a pre-heated cup – this preserves the temperature and the crema. You can turn the stainless steel active cup warmer, which fits up to 4 demitasse cups, on or off in the programming menu.

Bean Hopper and Ceramic Burr Grinder - The bean hopper stores 8.8 oz of your favorite beans, protecting them from the damaging effects of light, moisture, and air. Every time you brew, the Platinum Swing Up grinds a pre-set amount of beans on the ceramic burr grinder, crushing them evenly and consistently. Open up the bean hopper to set your fineness preferences to coarse, medium, or fine, as well as to set you preferred coffee dosage anywhere from 7-10.5 grams. Thanks to the bypass doser, you can also brew using ground coffee rather than the beans in the hopper.

Gaggia Espresso Plus System - The Espresso Plus System allows you to vary the intensity of your espresso, coffee, or long coffee – even while you’re brewing. Turn the knob located on the coffee dispenser to the right for a stronger drink, or to the left for a milder one.

Pannarello Frothing Wand - If you want to froth and steam your own milk for cappuccinos, lattes, steamers, and more, the Pannarello frothing wand is simple to use. Press the steam button, and open the steam knob to release steam. Close the knob and press the steam button again when you’re finished.

Hot Water Dispenser - For tea, hot cocoa, or an americano, the Pannarello frothing wand also dispenses hot water. Just press the hot water button and open the steam knob – to stop the flow of water, close the steam knob.

Gaggia Milk Island (not included) - The Gaggia Milk Island froths and steams milk automatically, connecting directly to you Gaggia Platinum Swing Up’s steam system. Easy to clean and care for, it holds 13.5 oz of cold milk.

Water Reservoir and Aqua Prima Water Filter - The 57 oz removable reservoir should be cleaned regularly for fresh-tasting coffee. The included Aqua Prima water filter removes impurities from your tap water, so you don’t have to descale as frequently. The LCD display will alert you when you have to descale.

Cleaning and Maintaining your Gaggia Platinum Swing Up - The drip tray needs to be emptied when the water level indicator rises. Remove and rinse the drip tray and drip tray cover to remove any coffee residue. When the LCD screen alerts you, empty the used coffee grounds box and the internal drip tray, which catches water left over from the brewing cycle. The brew group can also be removed and rinsed under running water.

Accessories - The Gaggia Platinum Swing Up comes with an Aqua Prima water filter, ground coffee measuring scoop, water hardness test strip, grinder adjustment key, lubricant for the brew group, power cable, warranty, and detailed instruction manual.
