Control Pad & Display |

The control panel on the 10-Cup Thermal Coffee Maker boasts several features to improve your coffee experience. The programming feature allows you to pre-determine when the coffee maker will automatically begin brewing. Use the “Set” button to customize the automated start time for brewing, and then press “Auto On” to enable the brewing start time. With this setup, you can wake up to freshly brewed coffee in the morning. The “1-4 Cup” button on the control panel runs a special brew cycle for smaller amounts of coffee. Less water is heated for this smaller brew cycle, so you can use less coffee grounds and still get the right extraction. Above the clock/timer display, the “Time Since Brew” display shows you how long ago the current pot of coffee was brewed—up to 2 hours. This feature is not often found in home coffee makers and is useful to households brewing large quantities of coffee on a daily basis.
The control panel itself has KitchenAid’s “Clean Touch,” so it is sealed against spills and is a breeze to wipe clean. And, to keep the insides of the coffee maker as clean as the outside, the “Cleaning Needed” indicator illuminates when you need to perform a descaling cycle. |

Pause and Pour |

For those who can’t wait for the brew cycle to finish before having a taste, you can remove the carafe during the brew cycle to pour a cup, thanks to the Pause and Pour feature. If the carafe is removed before brewing is complete, a valve forms a tight seal around the brew basket to ensure that coffee will not be dispensed from the basket until the carafe is replaced. |

Split-lid Design |

The built-in water reservoir can be filled from either the front or back of the coffee maker. Open the front lid to pour water into the reservoir fill channel or to put in the coffee filter. For more thorough cleaning, the “Cleaning Needed” indicator on the control pad tells you when it’s time to descale the machine. Although the ion-exchange water filter reduces build-up, periodic maintenance is still needed to remove limescale that can build up over time. Follow the instructions in the provided manual to descale your coffee maker. |
