Easy to Use Control Panel |
The control panel is laid out to be simple and easy to use. It has five buttons and a steam dial. The first button on the upper left is for the self-cleaning cycle, while the second button allows you to activate the bypass doser. The next two buttons allow you to make a large cup of café crema or a small shot of espresso, and the last button on the far right warms the machine to steam temperature. The steam is controlled by a dial on the right side of the machine. The buttons are clearly marked and the smart sensors on the machine alert you when you’re low on out of beans, out of water, the machine is heating, the dump box is full, and when descaling is needed. |
Simple Brewing |
Press the small coffee button once for a single shot of espresso, or twice for a double shot. If you prefer a larger cup of coffee, simply press the large coffee cup button and Palazzo will dispense a flavorful cup of café crema coffee. |
Rapid Steam Technology |
The Palazzo features the Rapid Steam boiler system, so there is almost no wait time to get ample steaming power for building a first rate cappuccino or latte beverage. While non-Rapid Steam super autos leave you waiting 45 seconds or longer for the steam pressure to build up, the Palazzo has you ready to go in 10 seconds or less. |
Professional Quality Conical Coffee Grinder with 18 Settings |
A built-in professional quality conical burr grinder means that when the brew button is pushed, the grinder automatically begins grinding the exact amount of coffee beans based on the amount of coffee the machine is going to brew. Conical burr grinding mechanisms are usually found on professional coffee grinders – they consist of a cone shaped grinding wheel that turns slowly to grind the beans consistently and evenly without burning them, a common problem on low cost burr grinders. The grinding wheel is made of tempered heavy-duty steel, so little or no service will be required. The built-in coffee bean hopper holds a half-pound of coffee beans and has a lid to help keep them fresh. |
Bypass Doser For Pre-Ground Coffee |
This feature allows you to by-pass the coffee grinder and brew using pre-ground coffee rather than what is stored in the bean hopper. For example, if you want a decaffeinated espresso but there are only regular beans in the hopper, simply pour pre-ground decaffeinated coffee beans into the bypass doser and the machine will brew using those instead. After making your drink using the pre-ground coffee, the Palazzo will reset itself to use the whole beans in the hopper. |
Café Crema Center |
If you want to try a new drink, the café crema provides a great alternative to drip coffee. First, adjust your grinder to a coarser setting – this will allow the water to flow more freely through the coffee grounds. Then press the large coffee button. Water will run through the coarse grinds, and in about 35 seconds, you’ll have your serving of café crema. Cafe crème is a good replacement for drip coffee, as this drink cuts down on any mess and requires far less ground coffee per serving. Café crema is sometimes known as Swiss brewed coffee. |
Pre-Infusion Cycle |
The two-step pre-infusion cycle maximizes flavor extraction, increasing the thick crema on your espresso. The Solis Palazzo infuses the fresh coffee grounds with a dash of hot water for 2 seconds. Then it completes the brewing process by infusing the remainder of the water through the grounds, resulting in a deeply aromatic and flavorful cup of espresso or coffee. |
Operating the Steam Wand |
The milk frothing-aid tip for the steam wand is specially designed to insure virtually perfect foam for cappuccino or lattes, even if you’re just beginning. The steam wand is located on the right front of the machine on swivel joint, which allows you to place either a 12 oz. or 20 oz. frothing pitcher underneath. To operate, press the steam button and wait for the heating indicator light in the center to illuminate. Now open the steam knob on the right to start to the flow of steam, and close the knob and press the steam button again when you’re finished. |
Hot Water |
As long as the machine is at brewing temperature, hot water can be instantly dispensed from the steam wand. Just open the steam knob to start the flow of water, and close the steam knob when you’re done. Many users make a shot of espresso then add hot water from the steam wand to make an americano. |
Automatic Cleaning Cycles |
The Palazzo includes a cleaning cycle to keep the machine fresh. When the machine has brewed 250 cups of coffee an orange light will illuminate, alerting you that it is time to descale your machine. The automatic cleaning cycle takes approximately 45 minutes and is done by simply pressing 2 buttons and opening the water valve. |
2 Quart Built-in Water Reservoir |
The Palazzo makes it easy to refill the reservoir by allowing you to add water while it's still on the machine or by removing it and filling it at the water tap. It has an easy grip handle making removal easy. Clear tinted ABS plastic gives you an indication of the amount of water remaining, and the machine will let you know when you’re running low thanks to an indicator light. |
Heated Cup Stacking Surface |
A convenient cup-stacking surface is located on top of the machine. Warm cups are preferred when brewing espresso because you're dealing with very small volumes of liquid, which cool off rapidly when poured into a cold cup. The cup warmer is heated using residual heat from the boiler, so when the boiler warms up, the cup warmer heats as well. |
Adjustable Coffee Dispensing Nozzle |
Large coffee cups 4" in height fit easily under the height adjustable coffee-dispensing nozzle. It moves up or down to accept many cup sizes and prevent your beverage from splattering or cooling. |
Internal Dump Box for Used Coffee Grounds |
The internal dump box holds the spent coffee grounds left over from the brewing process. Its large capacity will hold up to 14 spent coffee portions, and you can remove it for disposal and easy cleaning – just use warm water and a non-abrasive detergent. |
Slide Out Drip Tray and Cover |
When the water level indicator in the drip tray becomes visible, just slide the drip tray and cover out from the front of the machine. It’s made of durable plastic, so you can rinse and clean it easily in the kitchen sink with water and mild detergent. |
Smart Sensors |
The machine is equipped with sensors that tell when the water reservoir is empty or when it has run out of coffee beans. If an important component is out of place, such as the drip tray, service door, brew system, or grounds dump box, a green light will illuminate. After 250 drinks have been brewed an orange light will illuminate alerting you that it is time to descale your machine. |
